WHY HOLDING THIS EXHIBITION?
CYMCC Cultural Management Trainee Programme aims at providing opportunities for trainees to apply knowledge learnt and gain practical experience. Our current trainee chooses to take “Hong Kong”, her hometown, as the main theme of this project. Through research, “Eyewink in memory, beauty of Hong Kong” is set as the underlying topic for two events – “Beauty of Hong Kong” stories and photo collection, and “Capture the beauty of Hong Kong” Online Photo Exhibition. Apart from gaining experience of organizing events, this project also provides a chance for her to re-discover the beauty of Hong Kong, as well as promoting this amazing city to more parties.
WHY CHOOSING INSTANT AND FILM PHOTOS?
It is said that our eyes are the best camera in the world which can capture all awesome sceneries and store in our brain. Yet, we are eager to record what we saw by something tangible and share the moving moment with someone. In the digital era, photographers have chances to edit every picture and make it as a perfect artwork.
Meanwhile, instant and film camera can only capture the real image in a moment without any modification. Though both of them cannot replace our eyes in presenting the best scenery, they all got the similar characteristics. Instant and film photo are thus chosen as the types of photos for this exhibition, which match the theme “the most beautiful moment of Hong Kong”.
While our trainee brought with her Instax Wide 300 to travel around and take photos, she got deep feeling from the experience of missing the greatest timing and no second chance for retaking the same views.
There is only one chance to grab the best timing and the picturesque view. Don’t be regret tomorrow for today’s lost.

WHY HOLDING THE PHOTO EXHIBITION ONLINE?
“Capture the beauty of Hong Kong” Online Photo Exhibition previously planned to hold a physical photo exhibition in campus. In view of the latest situation of the epidemic, it changed to online platform so as to avoid people gathering. The online photo exhibition is formed by photos and stories submitted by participants through online survey, also research and instant photos taken by our current trainee. Although it cannot completely replace the physical photo exhibition, we wish this online exhibition allows more local or even foreign people to learn about another side of Hong Kong.
